Warm Transitional Home in Hacienda Heights
A single-story home in Hacienda Heights with warm wood floors, soft grey seating and simple, comfortable rooms for a family stay.
The brief
This is a single-story home in Hacienda Heights. The photos show a living room, a galley kitchen with a dining nook, a bedroom with a queen-size or larger bed and an en-suite bath, and a second bedroom with twin beds. The Cozy Palette furnished the home.
The concept
The home came with glossy cherry-tone floors and cherry kitchen cabinets, so we kept the furniture soft and neutral to calm them down. Grey upholstery, white bedding and a few mustard and teal accents keep the rooms warm without feeling busy. A large sepia print of a Paris street gives the living room its focal point.
We picked furniture that is simple to live with. The chaise sectional seats a family, the dark square coffee table and wood dining set are easy to wipe down, and the twin room has solid walnut beds that pair well for kids or friends.
Room by room
Living room
A grey chaise sectional with blue-grey trellis and mustard pillows faces a whitewashed barn-door TV console, with a grey armchair and a knit pouf across the room. A dark grey coffee table holds small succulents, and a faux ficus stands by the doorway to the dining nook.
Living room
From the other side, a black ladder bookshelf with books and a lamp sits beside the sectional, under a large sepia print of a Paris street. The doorway opens to the dining nook and kitchen.
Dining area
A grey wood table with four ladder-back chairs is set with blue-grey bowls and stemware, with a mustard pillow on one chair. A large abstract canvas hangs on the wall beside a bright window.
Kitchen
A galley kitchen with cherry shaker cabinets, brown granite counters, a black gas range and a stainless hood. At the far end, the dining table sits under an abstract print beside a faux fiddle-leaf tree.
Bedroom
A grey upholstered headboard with white bedding, teal and grey pillows and a navy-and-white geometric throw sits under a long blue-grey abstract canvas. A faux fiddle-leaf tree stands by the window, and a door leads to the en-suite bath.
Bedroom
Two walnut mid-century twin beds with white bedding, yellow chevron pillows and grey throws share a walnut nightstand with a yellow ceramic lamp. Two framed palm-leaf prints hang above, and a ceiling fan turns overhead.
Bathroom
A cherry vanity with a granite top holds a tray of flameless candles. A glass sliding door closes the tub and shower, and built-in niche shelves beside it hold plants. A framed coral print hangs by the window.
