California Casual 5-Bedroom Home in Hacienda Heights
An empty two-story home in Hacienda Heights became a bright, easy base for big families and groups. Room to gather, room to play and room to rest.
The brief
This is a two-story home in Hacienda Heights with five bedrooms and three baths. It sleeps twelve, and the brief names large families and groups as the guests it is for. The house was unfurnished when the owner came to The Cozy Palette, and the job covered the whole home.
The owner wanted it bright, family-friendly and spacious. Large groups needed a dining table that seats eight and a place to play, so one bedroom doubles as a game room.
Before & after
The concept
The house already had plantation shutters, warm wood floors and lots of light. We wanted the furniture to keep that easy, sunny California feel. The walls stay a soft warm neutral. The color comes from the pieces you touch: a teal accent chair, coral pillows and bright abstract art.
For a big group, the layout matters as much as the look. The seating is low-key and the dining table is long and sturdy.
Room by room
Kitchen
White shaker cabinets pair with gold-toned granite counters and backsplash. A stainless gas range and dishwasher sit below, and a double sink looks out a wide window to the covered patio.
Dining area
A long wood table with black metal chairs and woven place mats sits by bright shuttered windows. Framed art, a tall potted plant and an upright piano keep it warm, not formal.
Bedroom
A gray channel-tufted bed with coral and patterned navy pillows sits under a soft abstract print, with gold side tables on both sides. A rust ottoman and a tall plant add warmth by the shutters.
Bathroom
A walk-in shower with marble-look tile and a glass door sits beside a white vanity with a dark counter and a framed mirror. A bold blue abstract canvas adds color.
Living room
A gray sectional, a teal accent chair and a small armchair gather around a small round coffee table with a gold base on a soft rug. A light wood media console, a blue ottoman and three framed prints finish the room without filling the open floor.
