Warm Transitional 3-Bedroom Home in West Covina
A home in West Covina, furnished for families with a game room, a family room, three bedrooms and a covered patio.
The brief
This is a home in West Covina with a living room, a dining area, a kitchen, a family room with a game table, three bedrooms and a covered patio. Each bedroom we photographed has one bed. The Cozy Palette furnished the home for short stays.
The concept
The house has warm tan walls, honey oak cabinets and tile and wood-look floors, so we worked with that warmth rather than against it. Grey seating, white tables, navy and cream beds and touches of mustard and terracotta keep it fresh. In a family home the pieces have to hold up, so we chose furniture for function, easy cleaning and durability: metal bistro chairs, wipeable tabletops and simple upholstered beds.
The family room became a place to play, with a table-tennis table and a loveseat, and the covered patio got its own seating so guests can spend time outside.
Room by room
Living room
A grey tufted sectional with geometric and blush pillows faces a round white coffee table on a gold X base, set on a navy and cream patterned rug. Two abstract landscape canvases hang above, with a black floor lamp, a white media console and a knit pouf.
Dining area
A dark wood table set for six sits under a brushed nickel pendant, with white metal bistro chairs, white dinnerware and stemware. A potted tree stands in the corner, and the room opens to the kitchen.
Kitchen
Honey oak cabinets with arched doors run along black granite counters and backsplash, with a stainless range and microwave. A coffee maker, kettle and snack basket sit on the counter, with a chevron runner on the floor.
Game room
A blue table-tennis table sits on the tile floor under a ceiling fan, with a brown loveseat and white coffee table at the far end and a step up to the kitchen.
Family room
A brown tufted loveseat with black and white check and grey pillows sits behind a white coffee table, with a round white side table and a fern. Three blue and white framed prints hang above.
Cream bedroom
A cream button-tufted bed is dressed with striped and knotted pillows and a mink faux-fur throw. Black round side tables hold white cube lamps, with orange and blush geometric prints on the wall and a fiddle-leaf fig in the corner.
Mustard bedroom
A navy velvet tufted headboard carries mustard and cream patterned pillows and a mink throw. A white round side table holds a cube lamp, under a blue and taupe abstract canvas, with a fiddle-leaf fig by the window.
Navy bedroom
A navy tufted bed with white and terracotta patterned pillows and a mink throw sits between two windows. Framed sage landscape prints hang on the walls, with a fiddle-leaf fig in the corner.
Powder room
A black vanity with a small mirror sits against white walls, with a blush and stripe artwork, a potted plant and white towels.
Covered patio
A black sling patio set with blue and orange pillows sits around a glass coffee table under café lights, with two mugs on a tray and a sliding door back to the game room.
