Warm Transitional 2-Bedroom Home in West Covina
A West Covina home with two bedrooms and an open great room for living, dining and a piano corner, furnished in cream, honey wood and caramel with soft blue accents.
The brief
This is a single-story home in West Covina with two bedrooms, a large open great room with living, dining and a piano corner, and a kitchen with a granite island. A French door opens to a covered patio. The Cozy Palette furnished the whole home for short stays.
The concept
The great room is long and full of light, with cream walls and honey plank floors, so we zoned it into a lounge, a dining spot and a music corner around the walnut piano. Caramel faux-leather chairs, linen drapes and wave-print pillows in blue and orange keep the palette warm without crowding the space. In the bedrooms we kept things simple and restful in taupe and grey. The faux-leather chairs, gloss table and corduroy sofa were chosen for function, easy cleaning and durability.
Room by room
Living room
A beige corduroy sofa with blue, orange and cream wave-pattern pillows sits on a floral grey rug, with nested white marble-look coffee tables in front. Linen drapes on black rods frame the windows and a French door to the covered patio.
Great room
The full room shows how the zones work together: a white gloss dining table with caramel chairs at one end, the sofa in the middle, and a walnut upright piano and black media console under the TV at the far wall.
Piano corner
A walnut upright piano and bench sit under a window with linen drapes, next to a potted grass on a black side table and the low media console.
Dining area
A white gloss table with caramel faux-leather chairs on black legs looks out over the living area, with a potted grass in the center.
Kitchen
Cherry-stained raised-panel cabinets wrap granite counters and a large island, with a black French-door fridge, a stainless range and a tumbled stone backsplash.
Bedroom with gold lamp
A channel-tufted taupe headboard is made up in matching taupe bedding. A wood-block side table holds a brass dome lamp, and a soft landscape print hangs between windows on two walls.
Bedroom with white nightstands
A grey channel headboard is made up in grey, with white two-drawer nightstands and ceramic lamps on each side. A black-and-white floral print hangs by the window, and an open closet shows white shelving.
