Warm Modern 4-Bedroom Home in Covina
A single-story home in Covina with four bedrooms, a brick fireplace and a backyard of fruit trees, furnished in cream, warm wood and soft, easy textures.
The brief
This is a single-story home in Covina with four bedrooms, a large living room with a red brick fireplace, a separate dining area, a kitchen and a backyard with lawn and fruit trees. The beds we can see sleep at least five. The Cozy Palette furnished the whole home for short stays.
The concept
The house already had real character: a red brick fireplace, a dark wood ceiling beam and honey-toned floors. We let those lead and kept everything around them soft and light. Cream upholstery, light oak and walnut wood, and a few rust and sage accents make the rooms feel warm without feeling busy. The big sectional and the round coffee table give a group plenty of room to gather, and the pieces were chosen for function, easy cleaning and durability as much as for looks. Each bedroom got its own headboard and its own color, so the rooms are easy to tell apart.
Room by room
Living room
A cream sectional faces a red brick fireplace with an arched iron screen and a dark wood mantel, topped with a round wood mirror and a black vase. A round stone-look coffee table on dark wood legs sits on a pale grey rug, with a cream boucle swivel chair and two poufs, one rust and one white, beside it. A black three-shade floor lamp stands in the corner, and the dining table shows through past the beam.
Kitchen
Cherry cabinets with raised panels line the kitchen, with speckled counters and a window over the sink. We set out bamboo cutting boards, a white-handled knife block, a paper towel holder, a coffee maker and a bread box, so the basics are within reach.
Dining room
A rustic plank table seats six on bentwood chairs with grey seats. A woven runner with three ceramic vases runs down the middle, and a cluster of woven baskets hangs on the wall beside it.
Primary bedroom
A white boucle bed is dressed in white bedding with a tan knit throw and brown woven pillows. Light oak nightstands hold faceted wood lamps, two framed line prints hang above, and a long window looks out onto green trees.
Two-bed bedroom
Two walnut-framed beds with grey tufted headboards are made up in white with sage knit throws and striped pillows. A light oak nightstand with a wood lamp sits between them, under three framed abstract prints.
Charcoal throw bedroom
A bed in white bedding with a charcoal knit throw and black patterned pillows faces white panel closet doors. A walnut writing desk and chair sit in the corner.
Scalloped headboard bedroom
A cream boucle bed with a soft, wavy headboard is dressed in white with houndstooth and wave-pattern pillows. A light oak nightstand and a framed rose print finish the room.
Bathroom
A carved dark wood vanity with a granite top sits under a black-framed mirror and a glass pendant light. Brown ribbed accessories, a small fern and amber pump bottles keep it simple, with a leaf-print curtain at the tiled tub.
Garden patio
Under lemon and loquat trees, a blue-cushioned loveseat and two rocking chairs sit around a metal table on a jute rug, with lanterns on the table and the ground.
