Warm Modern 3-Bedroom Home in Alhambra
An unfurnished single-story home in Alhambra became a warm, family-friendly stay for up to seven guests, inside and out.
The brief
This single-story home in Alhambra is for families and groups. It has three bedrooms and two full baths and sleeps up to seven. The open living and dining area, a covered back porch and a fenced backyard give everyone room to gather.
The home was unfurnished when the project started. The owner wanted the whole house furnished, from the living room and kitchen to all three bedrooms, both bathrooms, the porch and the backyard. The goal was warm, modern and family-friendly.
Before & after
The concept
The palette starts light: white walls, taupe trim and pale wood-look floors throughout. The Cozy Palette warmed it with natural wood, a wood-plank feature wall around the fireplace, and soft grays in the seating and bedding. Navy tufted headboards, a blue velvet chair and mustard pillows add color without taking over.
Light floors and simple shapes keep the house bright. The wood tones in the kitchen, bath and living room make it feel lived in rather than staged.
Room by room
Living room
A gray tufted sofa, a round white coffee table with a brass base and a tripod floor lamp face a wood-plank wall with the TV and an electric fireplace. A brown leather side chair, a ceiling fan and recessed lights round out the room.
Kitchen
The galley kitchen has light wood shaker cabinets, white counters and a white tile backsplash. A white farmhouse sink with a brass faucet sits under the window.
Dining area
A dark wood table with eight white metal chairs sits under a drum pendant. Framed abstract and palm-tree prints and a potted tree finish the space next to the kitchen.
Primary bedroom
A dark tufted headboard with mustard pillows sits between two dark nightstands and lamps, under a pair of abstract prints. Gray drapes frame French doors, and a blue velvet chair adds a seat.
Bathroom
A walk-in shower with white tile, a glass door and a black hexagon-tile niche sits beside a light wood vanity. A backlit mirror and brass faucet keep it bright and warm.
Bedroom
Two beds with navy tufted headboards share a nightstand, set under soft landscape art. Two beds in one room give families flexible sleeping for kids or friends.
