Boho Modern 2-Bedroom Home in Alhambra
A small, bright home in Alhambra with two bedrooms, a white mantel and a walnut dining table, furnished with woven pendants, live-edge wood and soft aqua.
The brief
This is a small single-story home in Alhambra with two bedrooms, a living room with a white mantel, a dining area, a galley kitchen and a small patio out back. The Cozy Palette furnished the whole home for short stays.
The concept
The rooms are white and full of light, so we used texture to give them warmth: woven pendants, a cluster of baskets on the wall, a live-edge teak coffee table and a rattan lounge chair. A charcoal sofa and an espresso TV console ground the space, and aqua stoneware and teal carved panels bring in color. The furniture was chosen for function, easy cleaning and durability, with solid wood, metal legs and washable throws. Small touches, like a shoe bench by the door and towels stacked high in the bath, make the home easy to settle into.
Room by room
Living room
A charcoal rolled-arm sofa with a faux-fur throw and medallion and blush pillows faces a live-edge teak coffee table. A three-panel antique world map in gold and black hangs on one wall, and a layered woven pendant hangs in front of a cluster of woven baskets.
TV wall
An espresso TV console holds three woven baskets, under a framed leaf print. A faux fiddle-leaf fig in a woven basket fills the corner beside the world map, and a two-tier shoe bench sits by the front door.
Dining room
A walnut mid-century table seats four on walnut chairs with grey seats. It is set with aqua stoneware bowls, plates and mugs on fringed cream and black placemats, with wine glasses, under a layered bamboo pendant and a wall of woven baskets.
Kitchen
Charcoal shaker cabinets with chrome cup pulls run down both sides of the galley, with white subway tile and light grey counters. A white gas range with a black and gold kettle sits across from a counter set with a microwave, a red toaster, a blender and a white kettle.
Primary bedroom
A bed with an espresso headboard is made up in white with a pale blue button pillow. Two white swing-arm sconces flank a pair of carved teal medallion panels, and grey damask drapes frame the window beside a dark nightstand.
Second bedroom
A pale blue textured throw sits at the foot of the bed, under a large teal and gold starburst canvas. The closet holds a hanging organizer and spare hangers, and grey drapes hang at the window.
Bathroom
A glass sliding shower is lined in white tile with a band of pebble mosaic. A brushed nickel shelf above the toilet holds a stack of white towels, and small potted plants sit on the grey quartz vanity and the tank.
Patio
A red wood Adirondack chair and a matching picnic table sit under a green market umbrella, against a grey stucco wall and a cedar slat fence with a trailing plant.
