One of Tammy's signature homes: a light, airy two-bedroom apartment in Alhambra with walnut pieces, soft color and easy-care furniture.

The brief

This is a two-bedroom apartment in a small multi-unit building in Alhambra. The photos show an open living and dining area, a galley kitchen, two bedrooms with queen-size or larger beds and a bathroom with a large tiled shower. The Cozy Palette furnished the whole unit.

The concept

This is one of Tammy's signature homes, a custom design where every room was planned from scratch. The apartment has white walls and grey plank floors, so we warmed it up with walnut: a long slatted media console, a drawer-front coffee table and a round dining table. A faded multicolor rug and fruit-shaped art bring in soft color, and the plants keep it fresh.

The furniture was chosen to work hard. The white metal bistro chairs and walnut tables wipe clean in seconds, the grey sofa is a forgiving color, and the black bench by the door gives guests a place to drop bags and shoes. Each bedroom gets its own accent: a charcoal tufted bed with mustard pillows in one, and a blue channel-tufted bed with orange and teal art in the other.

Dining areaA round walnut-top table is set with blue-rimmed plates, woven placemats and stemware, with four white metal bistro chairs. A slim black console holds books, a fern and a framed blue botanical print, and a faux fiddle-leaf tree stands by the window.
KitchenA galley kitchen with cream raised-panel cabinets and white speckled quartz counters holds a stainless gas range, microwave and dishwasher. A red toaster and a rattan wall disc add a little color, and a small patterned runner covers the floor.
BedroomA blue channel-tufted upholstered bed with white bedding, mustard and green striped pillows and a cream knit throw. White mid-century nightstands with brass-stem lamps sit on both sides, under two framed orange, teal and grey abstract prints. A door opens to the bath.
Bedroom
BathroomA large shower lined in marble-look porcelain tile with a hex-tile floor, a handheld shower head and a cream curtain. A wall-mounted three-chamber dispenser holds shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and a framed botanical print and a small plant finish the room.
