Warm Mid-Century 3-Bedroom Home in Rosemead
A single-level three-bedroom unit in Rosemead, furnished from empty for families and groups. Charcoal, walnut and soft grey are warmed with terracotta, mustard and teal.
The brief
This single-level unit in Rosemead has three bedrooms, including a twin room, and two full baths, and sleeps 8. It was built for families or small groups traveling together.
The unit was unfurnished when The Cozy Palette started. The owner wanted the whole place furnished with a warm, modern, slightly eclectic feel and an open living and dining area for everyone to share.
Before & after
The concept
The finishes were clean and cool: grey plank floors, cream walls, grey shaker cabinets and marble-look tile. We wanted the furniture to bring the warmth. Walnut and natural oak, cognac leather and velvet, and pops of terracotta, mustard and teal take the edge off all that grey.
Each room got its own color story so it feels different to walk into, but the same warm wood and soft textiles tie the unit together.
Room by room
Living room
A charcoal L-shaped sectional with a faux-sheepskin throw and orange, striped and woven pillows sits around a round white-marble-top coffee table on a gold base. Warm abstract landscape canvases, a woven striped pouf and a tall mirror finish the room.
Kitchen
Pale grey shaker cabinets with matte black pulls sit under a full-height white marble-look backsplash and white quartz counters. A stainless gas range, microwave and fridge round out the U-shaped layout under the window.
Dining area
A round walnut table is set with woven placemats, blue-rimmed plates and white bowls, surrounded by white metal bistro chairs. A faux palm in a woven basket and a colorful mosaic-stone canvas brighten the corner.
Bedroom
A charcoal tufted king bed is dressed with navy and plaid pillows under three abstract mustard and blush prints. A cognac leather tufted bench and a faux rubber tree add warmth.
Second bedroom
A teal velvet bed with red diamond-pattern pillows sits across from a cognac velvet armchair by the window. Tribal-stripe prints and a green-based lamp on a black tray table complete the room.
Bathroom
A grey shaker vanity with a white marble-look top sits under a silver-framed mirror. The shower has marble-look walls, a sliding glass door and a black-and-white dot mosaic floor, with a blue and mustard wave print on the wall.
