Coastal Modern 2-Bedroom Apartment in Rosemead
We furnished an empty upper-level two-bedroom in Rosemead for couples and small families. Navy velvet, soft abstract art and warm wood tie the rooms together.
The brief
The owner came to The Cozy Palette with an empty, unfurnished upper-level apartment in Rosemead: two bedrooms, one bathroom, and room to sleep four. The guests in mind were couples and small families.
The owner wanted the place to feel warm, modern and gallery-styled, with an open living area where everyone could gather.
Before & after
The concept
The rooms started out white and bare, so we built the look around one strong colour: deep navy velvet. It shows up on the living room sectional and ottoman and again on the headboard in the second bedroom, and it keeps the whole apartment feeling connected.
Around that navy we kept things light and easy. White walls, grey wood-look floors, warm walnut and gold accents, and soft abstract art in mustard, blush and grey. Each bedroom got its own small personality, but both are dressed the same way: crisp white bedding, a soft grey throw and fresh towels ready on the bed.
Room by room
Living room
A navy velvet L-sectional sits on a soft crosshatch rug around a round marble-look coffee table with a gold base. Three abstract prints hang above it, with a walnut media console and a mounted TV across the room and a straw hat and scarf on hooks by the door.
Kitchen & dining
The white shaker kitchen opens to a breakfast bar and a round dark wood table with four white metal bistro chairs. Woven placemats, white bowls and a covered cake stand set the table, and a tall faux ficus fills the corner by the window.
Bedroom 1
A bed with a pale grey channel-tufted headboard is layered with navy and patterned cushions under two abstract canvases. A mustard velvet chair with a sheepskin, a black-and-brass floor lamp and a fiddle-leaf fig in a basket finish the reading corner.
Bedroom 2
A bed with a navy button-tufted headboard carries coral striped and black-and-white tasseled pillows. Gold tray side tables hold white lamps, and a pastel brushstroke print hangs above the bed beside the mirrored closet.
Bathroom
The white vanity is styled with an amber hand-soap bottle, a small succulent and a glass jar of woven orbs. Wall-mounted pump dispensers sit inside the white tiled tub surround.
