Scandinavian Minimal 1-Bedroom Apartment in Alhambra
A single-story apartment in Alhambra, set up for families and friend groups. Light, simple furniture, with pops of mustard and terracotta.
The brief
This single-story apartment in Alhambra has one large bedroom set up with two beds, plus two full baths. It sleeps four, and the brief names families and friend groups as the guests it is for. The design from The Cozy Palette covered the whole unit, from the living room and kitchen to both bathrooms.
The owner wanted it bright, airy and family-ready.
Before & after
The concept
With white walls, pale plank floors and big windows, this unit already had plenty of light, so we kept the furniture light too. A beige slipcovered sofa, a white coffee table and white scrolled metal beds keep the look clean and simple.
The color comes in through the small things: tapestry and needlepoint pillows, abstract prints in terracotta, navy and mustard, and mustard throws on the beds. A desk in the living room and a bistro set outside give guests a place to work and a place to sit in the shade.
Room by room
Living room
A beige slipcovered sofa with a chaise holds tapestry and needlepoint floral pillows and faces a white coffee table. A tall black chest of drawers, a white desk with a black office chair and a floor lamp, a pair of abstract prints and a round white dining table with black chairs fill the open room.
Kitchen
White raised-panel cabinets and speckled tan granite counters wrap around a gas cooktop under a white range hood, with a black speckled backsplash panel. A black and natural wood rolling cart and a wine-bottle print runner sit by the door to a small outdoor landing.
Bedroom
Two white scrolled metal beds with white bedding and mustard embossed throws share the large, bright room. A white lamp, a grey textured pillow, a cream pillow with mustard embroidery, towels folded at the foot of the bed and a potted tree by the window keep it light.
Bathroom
Beige marble-look tile with diamond inset tiles surrounds a white tub with a built-in granite bench. A chrome triple dispenser is mounted on the tile, with a white shower curtain on a chrome rod.
Patio
A grey metal bistro table and chairs and a wood-frame upholstered armchair sit against a pink block wall under a leafy tree. Paper lanterns hang from the branches, and solar path lights line the edge.
