Playful Modern 1-Bedroom Apartment in San Gabriel
A compact 1-bedroom unit in San Gabriel with a white and grey kitchen, bright orange stools, a teal bedroom and a walk-in shower.
The brief
This is a compact unit in San Gabriel with a living area open to the kitchen, one bedroom with a laundry closet, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. The Cozy Palette furnished it for short stays.
The concept
The unit is small and the finishes are cool, with white and grey cabinets, dark grey counters and pale floors. We used a few bold pieces to give it personality: orange metal stools, a teal bed and a multicolor rug, with a black leather sofa to ground the living area. A small island table for two works as both prep space and dining, which saves room. Watercolour prints and plants soften the bedroom. Furniture was chosen for function, easy cleaning and durability, so it holds up to a steady run of guests.
Room by room
Kitchen
White upper and grey lower shaker cabinets sit with dark grey quartz counters and backsplash. A stainless fridge, range and microwave line the walls. A small wood-top island table is set for two with woven placemats, and two orange metal stools tuck under it.
Kitchen corner
The island table is set with white bowls and wine glasses beside the stainless range and hood. A tall mirror sits on the wall, and a grey barn door leads to the bedroom.
Bedroom
A teal tufted bed is made up in white bedding with grey and striped tasselled pillows, a grey knit throw and towels. Three blue watercolour prints hang above. A fiddle-leaf fig, a round side table with a ceramic lamp, grey linen curtains and a purple tufted bench fill out the room.
Bedroom window side
From the other side, the teal bed shows its striped and tasselled pillows, with a bench under the window, wall hooks with hangers and a door open to the living area.
Bedroom and laundry
The teal bed sits under the watercolour prints, beside a grey barn door on a black rail. Behind a folding door, a stacked washer and dryer sits in its own closet.
Bathroom
A grey shaker vanity with a white top and chrome faucet sits under a wide mirror, with amber pump bottles on a wood tray and small potted plants.
Shower
The walk-in shower has large grey marble-look tile, a hexagon mosaic floor, a linear drain and a handheld shower head, with three black pump bottles in a niche.
