The brief
This two-bedroom apartment in San Gabriel came to The Cozy Palette as an empty, single-level unit. The brief planned it for couples or small families.
The owner wanted a warm, modern look with yellow accents. The design was delivered as an annotated floor plan with staging callouts and partial renders.
Before & after
The concept
We kept the shell simple: white walls, light grey wood-look floors and grey shaker cabinets. Then we put the colour where guests sit and sleep: an orange sofa and a blue wood-arm chair in the living room, navy tufted beds with mustard and rust pillows, and abstract art in blues, golds and soft earth tones. Out in the side yard, a shaded patio turns a bare strip of concrete into a place to sit and eat outside.
Room by room
Kitchen
Grey shaker cabinets and white quartz counters wrap around a stainless range and fridge, with a red kettle, coffee maker and fruit stand on the counter. A round dark wood table with slatted chairs sits just beside it.
Dining area
The round table is set with woven placemats and white bowls, under a soft earth-tone abstract canvas. From here the room opens straight through to the living area and front door, where wall hooks hold a hat and tote.
Bedroom
A navy tufted velvet bed with mustard and cream textured pillows and a grey throw sits under two gold-flecked abstract prints. Wood tripod lamps on round side tables and a potted plant complete it.
Second bedroom
A navy tufted headboard with rust and cream lumbar pillows sits under a blue-and-brown abstract canvas. White round side tables with linen-shade lamps and a faux rubber-plant tree keep it simple.
Bathroom
A grey shaker vanity with a white quartz top sits beside a walk-in shower with brown marble-look tile, a pebble floor, a niche and a frameless sliding glass door.
Side yard
A tan pop-up gazebo shades the concrete patio, with black metal chairs and a loveseat with soft cushions, a low black coffee table and a gas grill against the block wall.
