Modern Transitional 3-Bedroom Home in Rosemead

Living room after STR redesign in Rosemead

An empty single-story home in Rosemead, furnished to sleep six. Soft blues and greys run from the living room to the kitchen, warmed with walnut, rattan and mustard accents.

The brief

The owner brought The Cozy Palette an empty single-story home in Rosemead with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, set up to sleep six. It was meant for families and groups traveling together, so one of the three bedrooms was planned as a twin room.

The ask was to furnish the whole home, with detailed staging guidance for each room.

The concept

The kitchen cabinets are a soft powder blue, so we let that lead. The living room sectional is a slate blue-grey, the primary bed is navy velvet, the dining chairs are grey boucle, and blue-grey throws tie the bedrooms together. Against white walls and light grey floors, it reads calm and easy.

To keep it from feeling cool, we brought in warmth with walnut and light oak wood, rattan and woven pieces, a brass chandelier over the dining table, and mustard, rust and peach in the cushions and art. Plenty of faux greenery fills the corners, and every bed is made up with white bedding and folded towels.

Room by room

Living room

A slate-blue L-sectional with a chaise and striped, embroidered cushions faces a round white-top coffee table on a gold base, two green channel-tufted cube ottomans and a multicolor rug. A light oak slatted media console, a walnut slatted cabinet, textured wall panels, a black arc floor lamp and faux trees fill out the room.

Dining

An oval walnut table with grey boucle chairs is set with woven placemats, white bowls, blue napkins, a wood cake stand with croissants and a bowl of lemons. A brass sputnik chandelier hangs above, with two rattan flower wall pieces, and the space opens straight onto the living room.

Kitchen

A galley kitchen with powder-blue shaker cabinets, matte black bar pulls and white marble-look counters and backsplash, with stainless appliances. A knife block, a yellow utensil crock, a fern in a woven pot and amber soap bottles are in place, with a view through to the dining table.

Primary bedroom

A navy diamond-quilted velvet bed with white bedding, a blue-grey quilted throw and mustard-and-black striped cushions sits under a white scalloped relief art panel. A cognac faux-leather bench at the foot, a round metal tray side table with a sage glass lamp and a fiddle-leaf fig complete the room.

Twin bedroom

Two twin beds with greige channel-tufted scalloped headboards share white bedding, blue-grey quilted throws and textured cream and patterned pillows. A walnut nightstand with a rattan drawer and woven-base lamp sits between them, under a pastel brushstroke canvas.

Bedroom 3

A bed with a charcoal tufted headboard, white bedding, a blue quilted throw and striped and dotted cushions sits under three soft abstract canvases in grey and blush. Black tray side tables with linen-shade lamps, a rubber tree in a woven basket and a wall-mounted TV round it out.

Bathroom

A grey-blue shaker vanity with matte black pulls, a white marble-look top and a framed mirror is styled with a woven lidded basket, a potted plant and a navy-and-peach geometric print. The walk-in shower has marble-look walls, a hex mosaic floor, sliding glass doors and amber dispensers.
