An empty single-level apartment in Rosemead, furnished for couples and small families. A navy velvet sectional, warm abstract art and a twin room for four guests.
The brief
The owner came to The Cozy Palette with an empty, single-level apartment in Rosemead: two bedrooms and one bathroom, set up to sleep four. The guests in mind were couples and small families, so one of the two bedrooms was planned as a twin room.
The ask was to furnish the whole unit with a warm, modern look built around art on the walls.
Before & after
The concept
We kept the shell bright and simple: white walls, grey wood-look floors, white blinds. Then we let a few pieces carry the color. The blue velvet sectional anchors the living room, and soft peach, mustard and slate prints pick up the warmth through the rest of the apartment.
The living room and both bedrooms get their own art, so the place feels finished and personal, not bare. We added faux trees and plants in most rooms, folded towels on the beds, and kept the furniture to clean black frames and light oak so it stays easy to keep up between stays.
Room by room
Living room
A cobalt blue velvet sectional with striped and patterned cushions and a white sheepskin sits on a beige crosshatch rug around a round white-top coffee table on a gold X base. Three abstract prints in peach, mustard and slate hang above, with a faux olive tree, a light oak media console, linen curtains, a full-length mirror and a black metal hall tree bench by the doorway.
Dining area
A round walnut table with four white metal bistro chairs is set with woven placemats, white plates and a glass vase of peach faux florals, with lemons beside it. Two round woven wall discs and a faux ficus tree soften the corner by the window.
Kitchen
White shaker cabinets with long nickel bar pulls meet white marble-look counters and a full slab backsplash. Stainless appliances, a double sink with a pull-down faucet, a tiered fruit basket, a small cake stand and dark glass soap bottles are ready for guests.
Bedroom 1
A black bed frame with an oatmeal button-tufted headboard is dressed in white bedding, a grey knit throw, striped and mustard-embroidered cushions and folded white towels. Small white-shade lamps sit on each side, one on a black round tray table with a clock, with two colorful abstract canvases and a faux eucalyptus tree.
Twin bedroom
Two twin beds with black slatted frames share white bedding, grey knit throws and mustard-and-black striped and tasseled pillows. A mid-century oak nightstand with a textured white lamp sits between them, with framed abstract prints in coral, mustard, cobalt and black on either side of the window.
Bathroom
A white shaker vanity with a marble-look top, white-framed mirror and five-globe light bar is styled with an amber soap bottle and candle on a wood tray, a black geometric sculpture and potted plants. Marble-look tile wraps the tub with sliding glass doors and a handheld shower.
