Modern Transitional 3-Bedroom Home in Baldwin Park
A three-bedroom home in Baldwin Park, furnished for families and small groups in a grey-and-wood palette with navy and mustard accents.
The brief
The Cozy Palette furnished this three-bedroom home in Baldwin Park as a short-term rental for families and small groups. The owner wanted a comfortable, family-sized stay with an open living and dining flow.
The brief set the direction as a contemporary grey-and-wood palette with navy blue and gold or mustard accents.
Before & after
The concept
The house already had warm bamboo floors, white plantation shutters and a clean white kitchen, so we let those carry the room. Grey upholstery and white furniture keep things calm, and mustard pillows, navy velvet and warm-toned art add the colour.
Each bedroom has its own look, from a cream tufted headboard to navy and charcoal velvet, so guests can tell the rooms apart.
Room by room
Living room
A grey L-shaped sectional with mustard and patterned pillows wraps around a round white coffee table on a brass X base. A grey-and-ivory rug, a slatted walnut TV console, a leafy plant and two peach-and-sand landscape canvases finish the room.
Kitchen and dining
White shaker cabinets, a subway tile backsplash and a stainless chimney hood line the kitchen, with a white peninsula and grey counter between kitchen and dining. A glass-top table with grey chrome-legged chairs is set with white plates and bowls under a drum ceiling light.
Primary bedroom
A cream tufted headboard is dressed in white bedding, a blue-grey throw and striped lumbar pillows, with white tray side tables and lamps on each side. Three orange-and-coral geometric prints hang above the bed, and a fiddle-leaf fig stands by the sliding door to the covered patio.
Bathroom
An espresso double vanity with a white top sits against beige tile with a brown glass-and-stone mosaic band. The room has a tiled tub, a glass corner shower and a shuttered window.
Backyard
A wide lawn leads to a curved concrete wall and a covered patio under a black metal pergola, with a block perimeter wall along one side.
Second bedroom
A navy velvet tufted headboard stands out against slate-blue walls and white shutters. Caramel-and-cream tufted pillows, a grey throw, white side tables with small lamps and a multicolour abstract canvas complete it.
Third bedroom
A charcoal velvet tufted headboard is paired with mustard and striped pillows, a grey throw and black tray side tables with tripod lamps. Three framed blue-and-white prints hang above the bed.
