Modern Eclectic 1-Bedroom Home in Alhambra
A compact one-bedroom home in Alhambra, furnished for couples and solo travelers. Emerald velvet, warm wood and a small patio make it feel bright and easy.
The brief
The Cozy Palette was asked to fully furnish this compact one-bedroom home in Alhambra as a turnkey short-term rental. The brief names couples and solo travelers as the target guests, with room for two.
The owner wanted a clean, bright, minimalist modern look with green accents, covering the living room, dining area, bedroom and bathroom styling.
Before & after
The concept
The walls and floors here are quiet: soft greige paint, pale oak-look planks and white trim. So we let a few pieces carry the color. An emerald velvet loveseat and a mustard wingback chair with a tropical-print cushion set the tone in the living room, and gold accents tie them together.
The bedroom and bath stay calm and light, with white furniture, soft greys and black hardware, so the small rooms feel open. Outside, turquoise chairs and planter boxes give guests a second place to sit.
Room by room
Living room
An emerald channel-tufted velvet loveseat sits on a grey abstract rug with a round marble-top coffee table on a gold base. A mustard wingback chair with a tropical-leaf cushion and a white sheepskin, a gold shelf floor lamp, a charcoal woven wall hanging and a wall planter finish the room.
Kitchen
A small wood-top dining table for two sits at the end of the white shaker kitchen, set with navy bowls, grey placemats and wine glasses. Black bar pulls, a stone-and-glass mosaic backsplash and a tiered fruit basket by the sink complete the look.
Bedroom
A white wood bed is made up in white bedding with a grey throw, patterned cushions and a stack of fresh towels. A triptych of brushstroke prints hangs above, with white-and-black nightstands, black lattice-base lamps and a tall mirror.
Bathroom
The shower is lined in white starburst tile with black lines behind a frameless sliding glass door. A white shaker vanity with a veined counter, black faucet, rounded black mirror and a small potted plant keep it crisp.
Patio
Turquoise woven-cord chairs, a small side table and a teal umbrella sit beside the cottage door. Raised cedar planters with flowers and glazed teal pots line a slatted privacy fence.
