The brief
This is a two-bedroom cabin in Crestline, in the mountains among tall pines. Inside, knotty pine plank walls wrap the rooms, with a living room and white kitchen in one open space. Each bedroom has one bed of queen size or larger, so the cabin sleeps four. The Cozy Palette furnished the whole cabin for short stays.
The concept
Pine walls are the heart of a cabin, so we kept them and built around them. To stop the wood from feeling heavy, we added a bright white kitchen, cream rugs and white armchairs, then one rich colour: a teal velvet sofa with green pillows. Rattan pendants, a chunky wood coffee table and leather counter stools keep it warm and a little modern. Furniture was chosen for function, easy cleaning and durability, so the pieces are simple and sturdy. The bedrooms stay simple and cosy, with white bedding, plaid and knit throws.
Room by room
Great room

Kitchen
White shaker cabinets with brass pulls line the pine walls, with white quartz counters, a white fridge and gas range and a stainless microwave. Three round mirrors hang beside the window.

The white island has a marble-look top set with bowls and stemware, and looks across to the teal sofa and the living room.
Bedroom 1
A bed in white bedding with a rust knit throw and a striped pillow sits against the pine walls, on beige carpet. A black and white abstract canvas hangs above a wicker basket holding cream and grey pillows.
Bedroom 2
A grey wingback headboard is dressed with black and white diamond pillows and a plaid throw. Black round nightstands hold small lamps, with pine walls all around.
Bathroom
A black vanity with brass pulls and a marble top sits under a black-framed mirror with a slim shelf and a rattan pendant. A reeded glass door closes the tub, and a bear print hangs on the wall.
