The brief
This single-story home in La Puente is for families or groups. It has three bedrooms and two full baths, sleeps up to six, and includes in-home laundry.
The home was unfurnished when the project started. The owner wanted it furnished throughout: living room, dining area, kitchen, laundry area, the primary suite, two more bedrooms and the guest bathroom. The goal was warm, modern and fresh.
Before & after
The concept
The base is soft blue walls, white trim and light wood-look floors. The Cozy Palette added deeper jewel tones on top: a navy kitchen with brass details, emerald and teal velvet chairs, and a cobalt blue velvet bed. Walnut wood and black metal keep the colors grounded.
Strong colors in a few places, repeated from room to room, make the house feel connected. The light floors and walls keep it bright, so the color reads as fresh rather than heavy.
Room by room
Living room
A gray sofa pairs with emerald and teal velvet chairs on the TV side of the room, plus a marble-look coffee table on a brass frame and a walnut and cane media console. The laundry nook, with a navy cabinet and washer and dryer, shares the same open space.
Dining area
A walnut dining table with black metal chairs sits by a window, between the kitchen and the front door. A woven basket by the door holds shoes.
Bedroom
A cobalt blue velvet channel bed sits against a gray accent wall under three soft blue prints, with small round side tables. Coral and patterned pillows add warmth to the cool blues.
Primary bedroom
A charcoal tufted headboard sits against a blue accent wall under three bright framed prints. White side tables, a potted tree and a blue velvet ottoman finish the room.
Bathroom
The bath has a walk-in shower with blue marble-look tile and a sliding glass door. A white vanity, black fixtures and a round backlit mirror keep it clean and bright.
