Eclectic Modern 2-Bedroom Home in Azusa
A 2-bedroom, 2-bath Azusa home furnished for families and groups of up to six. White walls and light oak floors set off burnt-orange, navy and sage accents.
The brief
The Cozy Palette furnished and styled this single-level Azusa house with a detached garage for short-term rental. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps up to six, aimed at families and groups visiting Azusa and the San Gabriel Valley.
The owner wanted it turnkey: living room, kitchen, dining, both bedrooms, both bathrooms, laundry, the entry porch and the outdoor area, all furnished and styled from one design packet.
Before & after
The concept
The before photos show heavy drapes, pale blue walls and floral valances. We started with a clean base of white walls, white blinds and light oak floors, then gave each room one confident colour story: burnt orange and navy in the living room, sage green in the first bedroom, chocolate and mustard in the second. Brass details, a stained-glass pendant and a few organic art pieces keep it playful without feeling busy.
Room by room
Living room
A charcoal sofa with black-and-white striped pillows faces two burnt-orange velvet slipper chairs on brass legs, with navy cube poufs between them. A white-top coffee table on a gold base sits on a grey abstract rug, under three framed organic prints and brass sconces above the white mantel.
Bedroom 1
A sage-green tufted velvet bed is dressed in white bedding with chevron pillows and a grey knit throw. A pastel brushstroke abstract hangs above a brass-frame side table with a lamp, and teal velvet ottomans sit by the door.
Bedroom 2
Two taupe channel-tufted beds share a rattan-front nightstand with a small lamp, with chocolate and mustard striped pillows and grey throws. A stone-mosaic print and a ring-pattern print hang on the wall, and a fiddle-leaf fig stands by the window.
Bathroom
A grey chevron-front vanity with brass pulls and a white top sits under a thin-framed rounded mirror and a crystal-and-brass light. The walk-in shower has beige marble-look tile with a mosaic band, a pebble floor and a sliding glass door.
Kitchen
White painted cabinets with light-wood bar pulls wrap a peninsula with white counters, a gas cooktop and a glass island hood. A stainless dishwasher, kettle, toaster and a soft blue runner complete the working side.
Dining area
An oval walnut table with tapered legs seats six on white metal bistro chairs, with a knotted runner on top. A stained-glass pendant hangs above, a corner window ledge holds books, and a small tree stands in the corner.
Patio
The side patio has black sling chairs and a loveseat with cobalt and lime pillows around a glass coffee table. A wood fence and flowering bougainvillea frame the space against a sky-blue wall.
