Celestial Modern 2-Bedroom Apartment in Azusa

Living room after STR redesign in Azusa

A space-themed apartment in Azusa, made for guests who want a stay to remember. Sunny living space up front, a night sky in the bedroom.

The brief

This two-bedroom, one-bath apartment in Azusa is one of three units on a shared property. It sleeps four, and the brief names couples or small groups who enjoy a themed, experiential stay as the guests it is for. The design from The Cozy Palette covered the whole unit.

The owner wanted it modern, space-themed and playful, with planet-themed bedrooms.

The concept

This is one of Tammy's signature homes: a custom design where every room was planned from scratch. We kept the main living space calm and sunny, with light oak floors, white walls and one grey accent wall. A sunburst canvas over the blue sectional is the first hint of the theme.

The space idea really comes alive in the bedrooms. A black ceiling dotted with star lights, a ringed Saturn light and an oak slat wall turn the primary bedroom into a night sky, and lunar-crater wallpaper sets the mood in the bunk room. Cognac leather dining chairs and amber mushroom lamps add warm notes, so the theme feels cozy, not cold.

Room by room

Living roomA blue L-shaped sectional with striped and dotted pillows faces a round white marble-look coffee table on a brass base, set on a round blue-grey rug with a textured pouf. A sunburst canvas hangs on the grey accent wall, and grey curtains on brass rods frame the windows.
Primary bedroomThe ceiling is painted black and dotted with star lights, with a ringed Saturn light at the center and a floor-to-ceiling oak slat wall behind the bed. A charcoal tufted bed, black and cane nightstands with amber mushroom lamps, a striated rug and a framed Saturn poster complete the room.
Dining areaA round pale oak table on a black pedestal is set with stoneware bowls, woven mats and glasses, with cognac leather chairs with contrast stitching all around. A brass starburst pendant hangs above, and a fiddle-leaf fig stands by the window.
Bunk roomTwo honey pine bunk beds sit against a lunar-crater wallpaper accent wall, made up in white bedding with patterned pillows. A blue tufted velvet cube and a charcoal panel door round out the room.
