Eclectic Modern 2-Bedroom Apartment in Alhambra
An empty two-bedroom in Alhambra, furnished for couples or a small group with bright, modern pieces and a few bold colors.
The brief
The Cozy Palette furnished this two-bedroom, one-bath apartment in Alhambra for couples or a small group of up to four guests. The unit was empty when we started.
The owner wanted a compact unit with separate sleeping areas and bright, open living. The brief described the feel as bright, minimal and modern.
Before & after
The concept
The rooms are bright, with white walls, white blinds and grey plank floors, so we kept the furniture clean-lined and let a few pieces carry the color. In the living room that is a bright patterned rug, a cobalt velvet chair with gold legs and a gold-based coffee table, grounded by a charcoal sofa and a dark slatted media console.
The bedroom is quieter, with charcoal velvet, grey and white bedding and one warm golden landscape over the bed. Plants in every room tie it together.
Room by room
Living room
A charcoal sofa with striped, textured and cream pillows faces a white-top coffee table on a gold base, over a multicolor patterned rug. A cobalt velvet accent chair, a curved floor lamp, a faux tree, a chunky knit pouf and a dark slatted media console fill out the room, with neutral abstract canvases on the wall.
Bedroom
A charcoal velvet tufted bed is dressed in white, with striped and patterned lumbar pillows, a grey plush throw and folded towels. A grey bench with a sheepskin sits at the foot, a white side table holds a small lamp, and a golden landscape hangs over the bed, with a tall fiddle-leaf fig in a white pot by the window.
Kitchen
Light grey shaker cabinets sit above white counters and a grey and white glass mosaic backsplash, with a stainless dishwasher and a white gas range and fridge. An acacia bowl and lemons in a woven basket sit on the counter.
Dining
A round walnut table with white metal bistro chairs is set with green woven placemats under a wood-bladed ceiling fan. A colorful abstract in a wood frame and a fiddle-leaf fig sit by the window.
Bathroom
A dark wood floating vanity with a white sink sits under a three-bulb light, beside a tub with a white shower curtain. A pink abstract print and a potted plant add color.
