Eclectic Modern 1-Bedroom Apartment in Rosemead
We furnished an empty upper-level one-bedroom in Rosemead for solo travelers and couples. A bright rug, cognac stools and a small sitting nook give every corner a job.
The brief
The owner brought The Cozy Palette an unfurnished one-bedroom, one-bath apartment on an upper level in Rosemead. It sleeps two, and it was planned for solo travelers and couples.
The owner wanted it to feel warm, cozy and eclectic, and to make good use of a compact layout with a kitchenette.
Before & after
The concept
This is a small home, so we gave every corner a clear job. The breakfast bar became the place to eat, the window corner became a little sitting nook, and the space by the door got hooks and a shoe rack so bags and shoes have somewhere to land.
For the eclectic feel we mixed things that don't usually match: a speckled multicolour rug, cognac faux-leather stools, sage velvet chairs with mustard stripes, a cobalt tufted ottoman and soft blue watercolour prints. The white walls and grey floors keep it calm, so the colour reads as cheerful rather than busy.
Room by room
Living room
A walnut media console with rattan doors sits under the TV, styled with a woven basket, a small globe and a black metal sculpture. A cobalt tufted ottoman, a multicolour speckled rug and a tall faux rubber tree add colour, and a peg rail by the door holds a leather bag.
Living & kitchen
Two cognac faux-leather bar stools pull up to the breakfast bar, which is set with plates and mugs. Two round woven wall discs hang beside the kitchen, and small potted plants sit on top of the wall heater.
Kitchen & sitting nook
By the window, two sage velvet tub chairs with mustard-and-black striped cushions share a round white side table with a gold base. A trio of blue-and-blush watercolour prints hangs above, and a black arc floor lamp with a linen shade lights the corner.
Bedroom
The bed has a teal tufted headboard, white bedding, a grey knit throw and striped and fringed cushions, with fresh towels folded at the foot. A white metal bistro chair and a leafy potted plant sit under the window across from the mirrored closet.
Bathroom
The white vanity holds a yellow and a grey planter with trailing greenery, an amber soap bottle and a white pillar candle. A white towel hangs on a brushed nickel ring by the door to the tub.
