Coastal Modern Home in Monterey Park
A compact Monterey Park home furnished for short-term guests in soft blues, linen and walnut. The living room, kitchen and bedroom went from empty to guest-ready.
The brief
The Cozy Palette furnished this small Monterey Park home for short-term rental. The project file holds a floor plan and the finished photography; the room count, guest count and target guest were not recorded, so this story sticks to what the photos show.
Before & after
The concept
The before photos show empty white rooms with plenty of windows. We leaned into that light with a relaxed coastal palette: blue-grey upholstery, natural linen curtains on black rods, walnut tables and indigo textiles. Green plants and a rust block print keep it warm rather than beachy.
Room by room
Living room
A blue-grey tweed sofa with dotted-stripe pillows faces an oval walnut coffee table on a navy patterned rug. Linen curtains frame the windows, and a faux ficus tree stands by the window next to the wall-mounted TV.
Kitchen
The honey oak cabinets and black granite counters now carry a pale blue kettle, a knife block and a fruit bowl on the sill. A jute runner sits on the white tile floor beside the white gas range and stainless fridge.
Bedroom
A grey channel-tufted headboard backs a bed in white linens with tan and grey textured pillows, a charcoal runner and a sheepskin. Two black-and-white palm-leaf prints hang on the wall beside the bed, a blue-and-white shibori hanging fills the opposite wall, and grey curtains frame the window.
Dining area
A walnut table seats four on white upholstered shell chairs, set with woven placemats and white bowls. A dark teal cabinet with a brass nailhead diamond pattern, a framed rust block print, a metal dome floor lamp and a monstera finish the corner.
Bathroom
A dark wood vanity with frosted-glass doors and a white top sits under a dark wood-framed mirror. Cream wall tile with a pink and green glass mosaic band runs around the room, and a small fern sits by the sink.
Patio
The patio outside the peach stucco cottage has a black outdoor loveseat and chairs with teal cushions around a grey metal coffee table. Potted plants line the brick edging beside it.
