Coastal Modern Home in Pomona
An empty Pomona home, furnished to feel cozy and modern. We kept its arches, oak kitchen and stone porch, and layered in blues, warm wood and colour.
The brief
This Pomona home came to The Cozy Palette unfurnished, as a single-level layout.
The owner wanted it to feel cozy and modern, with an efficient layout that works for short stays.
Before & after
The concept
This house already had character: arched openings, a wood front door with glass panels, honey-oak kitchen cabinets and a stacked-stone porch. We worked with it rather than against it. Navy and light blue sofas, white curtains and a soft geometric rug keep the living room fresh, and darker wood gives the dining room some weight. Each bedroom got its own colour story, from coral and aqua to bright circle prints.
Room by room
Kitchen
Honey-oak cabinets with glass-front uppers, speckled counters and a pink-beige diamond tile backsplash frame a stainless French-door fridge, gas range and microwave. A vintage-style runner rug sits on the beige tile floor.
Dining
A dark-stained farmhouse table with ladder-back chairs and a leather bench draped in white sheepskin sits under the window, set with woven round placemats. A dark wood sideboard holds a coffee station, and the arched opening looks through to the living room.
Bedroom
Two black metal twin beds with white bedding, grey throws and patterned pillows share a black nightstand with a brass lamp. Colourful circle and mosaic canvases, beige curtains, a floor lamp and a small olive tree finish the room.
Second bedroom
A charcoal tufted headboard with pink diamond and striped pillows sits between white round side tables with aqua ceramic lamps. Mustard and blush abstract prints hang on the walls, with beige curtains at the window.
Front porch
A mint-green lattice metal bench with a grey pillow and a black tray side table sit on the hexagon-paver porch against stacked stone, with a navy doormat at the wood front door.
