Coastal Calm 2-Bedroom Apartment in Alhambra
An unfurnished upper-level apartment in Alhambra became a light, calm two-bedroom stay for couples, travelers and small families.
The brief
This upper-level apartment in Alhambra is for couples, design-conscious travelers and small families. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom and sleeps up to four. A king primary and a queen second bedroom allow different guest setups.
The apartment was unfurnished when the project started. The owner wanted every room furnished, including the living room, dining room, galley kitchen, bathroom, both bedrooms and the entry hall, with paint confirmed for each room. The goal was elevated, warm and design-forward.
Before & after
The concept
The palette is light and easy: white walls, light gray plank floors and a gray sectional. The Cozy Palette brought in warmth with a walnut dining table, woven wall baskets, gold accents and soft abstract art. A teal bed and a cream tufted headboard give each bedroom its own feel.
Keeping the base pale helps the rooms feel open. Practical pieces like the entry bench, coat rack and full-length mirror give guests a place to settle in.
Room by room
Living room
An L-shaped gray sectional faces an oval white coffee table with gold legs, under three framed abstract prints. A coat rack with a shoe bench and a full-length mirror sit by the door.
Kitchen
The galley kitchen has white shaker cabinets, white counters and a marble-look backsplash and floor. A double sink sits under a small window, with a white gas range and a stainless fridge.
Primary bedroom
A tufted cream headboard sits between two round black side tables with warm lamps. Blue abstract prints and a colorful patterned rug add color to the white walls.
Bathroom
A white vanity with a single sink, a brass faucet and a tall linen cabinet sits across from a tub with sliding glass doors. A frosted window brings in daylight.
Dining area
A round walnut table with four white metal chairs sits by a window, next to the kitchen. Two woven baskets on the wall and a potted tree warm up the corner.
Bedroom
A teal upholstered bed sits between walnut nightstands with rattan fronts, under bright abstract art. A gray velvet accent chair adds a seat.
