Clean Modern Home in El Monte
Blue linen seating, a long shared dining table and simple oak-and-grey bedrooms across a single-story home in El Monte.
The brief
This is a single-story home in El Monte set up for groups, with a shared living room, a long dining room and several bedrooms, plus a studio-style room with its own sitting area.
The concept
The Cozy Palette kept this home simple and hard-wearing. White walls and light oak-look floors run through every room, and color comes from a few clear choices: blue linen sofas in the living room, navy and charcoal throws on the beds, and soft abstract art. The furniture was chosen for function, easy cleaning and durability: metal bistro chairs, a concrete-look dining top, and wood-framed beds with upholstered headboards that wipe down and hold up to turnovers.
Room by room
Living room
Two blue linen mid-century sofas and a matching armchair sit around a white marble-look coffee table on a black frame. A red brick fireplace anchors the wall under a TV, flanked by two small landscape prints, with a large blue abstract canvas on the side wall and brass lamps with linen shades.
Dining
Two long concrete-look tables run end to end, lined with metal bistro chairs with wood seats. Each place is set with white dinnerware, wine glasses and plum placemats under slim panel lights.
Kitchen
Dark grey high-gloss slab cabinets with black bar pulls pair with white quartz counters, an undermount steel sink, a stainless gas range, a chimney hood and a two-door fridge.
Bedroom
A grey upholstered headboard framed in light oak, crisp white bedding and a navy plush throw. Matching oak nightstands hold cube lamps, with a gold-leaf abstract centered above the bed.
Bedroom with two queens
Two oak-framed beds with grey headboards share a single oak nightstand and lamp. Charcoal throws and folded towels sit at the foot of each bed, under two blue floral prints.
Bedroom
A pale headboard on a dark frame, white bedding and a navy throw, with a black nightstand, a glass lamp and a soft floral canvas on the side wall.
Studio bedroom
A queen bed sits beside a grey loveseat with patterned pillows and a wood-look coffee table. A light oak dresser, a botanical print and a sliding closet finish the room.
Bathroom
Beige stone-look tile wraps the tub, with a recessed niche holding amber pump bottles. A pedestal sink, a frameless mirror and wood-look tile floors keep it plain and easy to clean.
Table setting
White bowls and plates on plum placemats, with wine glasses and a wire napkin holder on the concrete-look table.
