Classic Transitional 6-Bedroom Home in Arcadia
A large two-story home in Arcadia, restyled so big families and groups have room to gather. Cream leather, cobalt velvet and navy accents sit against white wainscoting and glossy tile.
The brief
This is a large two-story home in Arcadia, set up for big families and groups who travel together. The brief called for multiple living and dining areas plus enough bedrooms across both floors to host a large party under one roof.
The home was already lived in when The Cozy Palette came in, so the job was to restyle it for guests rather than start from empty rooms.
Before & after
The concept
The house already had strong bones: white wainscoting, plantation shutters, glossy white tile and a staircase with scrolled iron balusters. We kept that classic shell and dressed it with pieces that feel a little more relaxed. Cream leather and cobalt velvet set the tone in the living room, and navy and grey carry through to the bedrooms.
For a group this size, the plan was about places to land. There is a formal living area by the fireplace, a separate family room with a TV and a small table, a dining table that seats a crowd, and a shaded spot in the backyard.
Room by room
Living room
A cream leather tufted sofa with a white sheepskin faces two cobalt velvet chairs across a marble-top coffee table on a brass frame. A grey abstract rug anchors the group in front of the white-mantel fireplace.
Entry & staircase
Seen from the foyer, the seating area by the fireplace is now furnished, with the staircase, its cherry rail and scrolled iron balusters left as the backdrop. The glossy white tile runs through to the rooms beyond.
Family room
A grey velvet sectional with an arc floor lamp and a round white coffee table on a brass base faces a wall-mounted TV over a low dark media console. A round wood bistro table with wood chairs sits in the bay of shuttered windows.
Dining area
An espresso table is set with white bowls and wine glasses and surrounded by white metal bistro chairs under a brushed-nickel chandelier. A sliding door opens toward the backyard, with a faux fiddle-leaf tree in the corner.
Bedroom
A bed with a tufted linen headboard is layered with grey patterned pillows and a navy faux-fur throw. Black tray nightstands with white lamps, an abstract canvas and a fiddle-leaf fig finish the room.
Bathroom
A white shaker vanity with a grey quartz top sits beside a tub with a sliding glass door and a mosaic accent band. Dark pump bottles line the niche and a soft green landscape print hangs on the wall.
Backyard
A black metal-roof gazebo with mesh curtains covers the patio, furnished with slatted metal chairs and a loveseat dressed in green, white and navy pillows. It looks out over the lawn and the hedge along the back wall.
