Bright Modern 6-Bedroom Home in Bassett
A large home in Bassett, furnished for groups with a wide open great room, a table for a crowd and six bedrooms that each carry their own accent colour.
The brief
This is a large home in Bassett with an open great room that runs from the living area through the dining table to the kitchen. The floors are glossy grey marble-look tile in the shared rooms and light wood-look plank in the bedrooms. We photographed six bedrooms, set up with king, queen and twin-queen layouts. The Cozy Palette furnished the home for short stays and larger groups.
The concept
The house is big, bright and mostly white, so the job was to make it feel warm and easy to live in without losing that light. We kept the shared rooms practical. Leather seating, a long dark dining table and wipe-clean surfaces mean the great room can take a big group and still be reset quickly between stays. We chose the furniture for function, easy cleaning and durability first, then let the colour come in through throws, pillows and art.
Each bedroom gets one accent so guests can tell them apart: coral, navy with orange, charcoal, teal and blue, and soft grey with a glow behind the headboard. Every room has a place to set things down, a lamp on each side where it fits, and a desk or bench where there was space.
Room by room
Living room
A long black leather sectional with recliners wraps around a white and natural wood coffee table, with a beige leather recliner and a grey ottoman alongside. Throws in red, blue and white add colour. A wall-mounted TV sits over a low white and oak console, and the room opens straight through to the dining table and kitchen.
Kitchen
Pale grey shaker cabinets run to the ceiling over white quartz counters. A stainless French-door fridge sits at one end, and a freestanding white-topped prep table on a steel frame gives extra room to work. A zebra roller shade covers the sink window, and the kitchen opens onto the dining area.
Dining area
A long dark oval table is set for a crowd with white bowls, plates and stemware on woven mats. Black faux-leather chairs with nailhead trim line both sides, with a vase of lilies and stock in the centre. The living room sectional sits just beyond.
Coral bedroom
A grey channel-tufted headboard is paired with champagne pillows and a coral knit throw over white bedding. A grey two-drawer nightstand holds a small lamp, and coral and black prints hang above the bed. A black desk sits by the window, with a grey rug and linen drapes.
Navy bedroom
A navy tufted headboard with crystal studs anchors the room, with champagne pillows and a sand knit throw. A long orange leather bench sits at the foot of the bed. A wood desk with an orange stool sits by the window, under a long blue abstract.
Charcoal bedroom
A black tufted headboard with studs is dressed with champagne pillows and a grey diamond-knit runner. Black nightstands hold small drum lamps, and two grey and white sculptural prints hang above. The closet has a wooden luggage rack.
Two-queen bedroom
Two grey channel-tufted beds sit side by side with blue palm-leaf pillows and teal knit runners. A grey nightstand with a lamp sits between them, with feather and orange orb prints above. A red-brown desk and stool sit by the window.
Grey suite
A grey velvet headboard with a soft backlight is dressed with champagne pillows and a grey runner, with a long grey storage bench on gold legs at the foot. A blue rug sits under the bed, with blue and gold prints above. There is a desk and a travel crib, and the room opens to its own bath.
