Bright Modern 1-Bedroom Apartment in Chino
A one-bedroom apartment in Chino with an open living room and galley kitchen, a sunny dining nook and a large bedroom with room to sit and work.
The brief
This is a one-bedroom apartment in Chino. The living room, galley kitchen and dining nook run together in one long, bright room, and the bedroom is large enough for a bistro table, a TV area and a desk. There is one large bed. The Cozy Palette furnished the whole unit for short stays.
The concept
The finishes were already clean and cool: grey plank floors, grey shaker cabinets and white subway tile. We kept the big pieces grey and white to match, then brought in warmth with mustard and yellow, from sofa pillows and a velvet chair to fresh tulips on the table. In a small space every piece has to earn its place, so we picked furniture for function, easy cleaning and durability: nesting coffee tables, a floating TV shelf and a compact round dining table. The bedroom works as a second living space, with a place to eat, sit and work away from the main room.
Room by room
Great room
The living area sits at one end of a long, open room. A charcoal sofa faces the TV, the galley kitchen runs along the right wall, and a round white dining table with grey shell chairs waits at the far end by a paneled door.
Kitchen
Grey shaker cabinets with black pulls sit under grey quartz counters, with white subway tile running up to the ceiling. Two floating grey shelves hold a small plant and canisters, and a stainless chimney hood hangs over the gas range. A chevron runner sits on the floor in front of the sink.
Dining nook
A round white table on a light wood base is set for four with cream stoneware, wine glasses and grey woven placemats, with yellow tulips in a blue vase. Grey shell chairs surround it. The deep window sill behind holds lavender, orange orchids and a small bicycle planter, under grey zebra blinds.
Bedroom
A grey tufted bed on a mid-century wood frame is made up in white with a navy throw and grey textured pillows. A rattan-front nightstand stands beside it, and grey drapes hang over sheer panels at the window. Across the room, a round white bistro table pairs a mustard velvet chair with a blue velvet chair draped in a sheepskin.
Bedroom view
Seen head-on, the bed sits under a wide window, with a beach grass canvas on the side wall and the door to the bath just beyond.
Bedroom sitting area
A low white TV console with small plants faces the bistro table. Frosted glass wardrobe doors line one wall, and a black desk sits under the window.
Work desk
A black desk holds a small hourglass, a plant and a table clock, with a mustard velvet chair pulled up to it. An ironing board tucks neatly beside the wardrobe.
